  • Account information — your name and email address when you create an account.
  • Location data — precise location to provide destination-based suggestions and trip planning features. Location is only accessed when you use location-dependent features.
  • User content — trips, itinerary events, photos, and other content you create within the app.
  • Usage data — how you interact with the app, including screens viewed and features used, collected via Firebase Analytics.
  • Diagnostics — crash logs and performance data collected via Firebase Crashlytics and LogRocket to help us improve app stability.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the SquadAbroad service.
  • Enable collaborative trip planning with your travel group.
  • Suggest relevant destinations, restaurants, and activities based on your trip location.
  • Send you important account and service updates.
  • Diagnose and fix technical issues.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in the following circumstances:

  • With your trip group — trip details, events, and your profile name are visible to members of trips you join.
  • Service providers — we use Firebase (Google Cloud), LogRocket, and the Google Places API to operate the service. These providers process data on our behalf under their respective privacy policies.
  • Legal requirements — if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of SquadAbroad or its users.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Google Cloud / Firebase infrastructure. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit and at rest. While no system is perfectly secure, we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or legitimate business purposes.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your account and data.
  • Opt out of analytics collection by contacting us.

7. Third-Party Services

SquadAbroad integrates with the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

  • Firebase Authentication, Firestore, Analytics, and Crashlytics (Google)
  • Google Maps and Google Places API
  • LogRocket (session analytics)
  • Unsplash (images)

8. Children's Privacy

SquadAbroad is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email. Your continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
